Green Like Limes
... is a very strange name for a human. I mean a cat maybe, but a person? I've also heard him referred to as Phillip Lemire, which might mean the other name is a nickname... but really who knows. He's got a moustache like no other, and truthfully it makes me a little nervous that a man could have such a serious lack of upper lip. Wanna go for a tour of his favourite spot to skate with him? ---> CLICK HERE

Switch Blades and Cool Cats
Josh spent many months in Vancouver this summer and hopefully he'll be back when it warms up (he's got strong hands and knows how to scratch me just right). Sam Warsh just moved to Hawaii for an undetermined amount of time... good thing we sent him with a Switchblade to defend himself against the locals. Let us know how things are going out in the middle of the pacific boys. Aloha

Good things come in small packages
Midget, she may be small but she sure packs a punch. She is one of the few girls who can handle working with all the guys here at Landyachtz. Coffee is her drink of choice and beagles are her favorite dog. Word of warning though, don’t ever owe this lady money, because she always gets what she wants. Ohh yeah, she’ll also kick your ass down Jake's Rash.

Union Jack Carbon Fiber Top Mount Speedboard?!??
Its funny what you can find laying around the shop at Landyachtz. I noticed this board up by the calender and thought it looked amazing. I grabbed my camera to snap a picture, which sounds easier said than done when you don't have opposable thumbs. A hand quickly blocked my view...some human voice blabbed loudly at me, i heard Bad and Dog being repeated angrily. I ran away with my tail between my legs, but got the shot and posted before the humans could get to it. Could it be...a Top Mount Carbon Speedboard??? I like...do you? Woof Woof

Saltspring Slopestyle
I have been following a very interesting blog as of late...Moustache Ridez... and yes dogs do follow blogs. This article is a great one, I found my stub of a tail began wagging uncontrollably as I read on.
After the Salt Spring Slasher attacked earlier this summer, the Coast Longboarding army decided to make their presence know on this tiny island in an attempt to ward off any future attacks. After practicing our touch-and-go's on Juniper (the race course from earlier in the summer). We partied and camped at an undisclosed location. Under starry skies we consumed many beverages. Fortunately Ladner Division showed up before our rations ran dry and the party continued late into the night.
The following morning we rendezvoused at Salt Spring Island coffee shop, and their peppermint tea did wonders to calm the stomachs of all those who over indulged the night before. After replenishing our rations we began our convoy to spot number one and two. Style was thrown down by all participants, and rivaled only by the amount of urethane spent over the course of the day. Bombs were dropped on the private residents at the top of Musgrave, which were met with little opposition (only one axe wielding resident, and another who was shocked that we disobeyed her orders to cease and desist). After this small incursion, the slopesyle continued. Spot three and four were shredded a new one, and when the dust settled... Dylan and Travis, of Summerland division walked away with the Outlaw key. Day done, battle won. Over and out.
Thanks to Unkle Lee for the pics and incredible scratches behind my ears. Woof Woof

Push for the Cure fundraiser
Over $800 dollars was raised for the Push for the Cure charity at the first annual Stoop Kegger. Pilsner donated a keg of beer, Landyachtz donated a pilsner stout which was raffled off and Coast longboarding kicked in a hoodie. Good times where had by all on the badminton court and the BBQ was in full swing all night long. Drinking Pilsner for breast cancer is always a good idea and get a Mammogram ladies.

Fuzzy Fingers?
Don't mess with the Midget.
If you’ve ever been to southern Washington, you know the landscapes could be considered breath taking. This past week was no exception. With hundreds of new windmills scattering the skyline, unpredictable weather, and skateboarders from all over the world, the Maryhill Festival of Speed was better than ever.
The week started with riders trickling into town and ready to skate. There was a bit of a hiccup due to some miscommunication with the EMT’s, which resulted in a late start on day 1. Spirits were far from dampened and the U-Hauls made their way to the top. The free-riding commenced along with the smiles and we rode Mary hard into the night.
This year the junior’s were out in full force with over 20 riders in total. Fellow Canadians George MacKenzie and Nick Jean did us proud, while young guns like Liam Morgan and Samuel Rojas Jr. (Tactis Sk8 Shop Team Rider) from California caught everyone’s eye. With their style and recently acquired racing skills, they were a force to reckon with. The women were well represented with a solid crew from the Great White North. In the end it was the one and only Brianne Davies taking the win. Dominique Vukorep of North Van was giving her a run for her money but crashed in Cowser’s (aka Seismic) Corner, allowing Brianne to maintain her lead to the finish line.
An interesting twist kept our spirits up when in house Aussie, Adam Yates, decided to compete in Classic Luge (aka butt-boarding). In a field of 22 racers, Yates finished 3rd after battling his way up from 10th position off the start line. Not to mention having almost no experience on one of these contraptions… I guess living in Vancouver has paid off as the rain didn’t seem to faze him!
As per usual, the Downhill Skateboarding Open Class was the race to watch. With insanely talented riders from around the globe, there was never a dull moment. The heats were stacked right off the bat and proved for tough competition all day. As the heavy rains set in, riders were scrambling for grooved wheels like Aqua Hawgs and a pair of dry socks. This didn’t deter anyone and the competition was on! Crashes were frequent which kept the audience in anticipation, never knowing who would cross that line first. Matt “Hoodie” Shaw was there to get the side bets going, and Bricin “Striker” Lyons pumped the crowd full of energy all day long. Douglas “Dalua” Silva of Brazil surprised everyone with his consistency in the rain and ended up finishing 2nd. Nate Lang finished behind Dalua in 4th after James Kelly made a pass just before the finish line for 3rd . Heavy hitters like Mischo Erban (who was dominating all week ) and Scoot Smith ended up in the bales, but still finished an impressive 5th and 6th amongst all the carnage. In the end it was Patrick Switzer of Ontario taking the win.
The awards were held at the race course for the first time, and Chris Chaput of Abec 11 made sure it was nothing short of green, pink and spectacular. We had boxes of shwag to toss to groms, who were especially frothing on the new Monster Hawgs, while some fresh decks were awarded for things like “most heart” and “up and coming juniors”. People were stoked.
The night continued with barn parties and dice rolling, which proved to be profitable for some. Rumors have it that Team Canada held it down and continued to win the party. With the clouds blown over, the windmills spinning and broken tents being disposed of, the Maryhill Festival of Speed came to an end. Until next year sweet Mary, and God Bless America.

Dan is the Man
Dan works in the wood shop sanding, drilling and sometimes CNCing your favorite boards. He stands at 7.2 feet short and towers over everyone at the shop. Dan is a walking musical library and has an answer for every musical question you may have. His favorite artist is Banksy and for some reason he enjoys eating at the Truck Stop. If you see dan strolling around town give him a Giant sized High Five. Woof

Sean Builds boards
Sean does some amazing work with wood and carbon fiber. He builds the carbon boards boards that win races left right and center and also makes his own crazy custom rides. This board is a unique shape with one of the cleanest glass jobs i have ever seen...any puppy would be proud to chew on this stick. He looks so happy pushing this board around in a shopping cart...looks like a familiar cart to me.

Sun stroke and sneaking about...
It was a hot one here in Vancouver this past weekend. So sunny that I burned my little paws on a hot tin roof. Keyboards are difficult enough to use for a cat, let alone a cat with singed paws. But I took this time away for the computer to catch up on my snooping. What do you think this is?
My new cat friendly pro model maybe?

Hey it's LIAM
Liam can be described to a tee in two words..."free spirit". The last thing I heard him say before typing this out with my paws was "i am but a leaf blowing in the wind"...enough said. Liam lives at the Stoop in East Van where everyone is welcomed with open arms, even dogs like myself. He skis in the winter, he skates with briefcases and sunglasses are always on his face, along with an ear to ear grin...under his Jesus like beard that is. If you spot him regulating stop and say hey, i'm sure you'll learn something interesting and leave the conversation happier than when you started it. He'll probably give you a sticker too.

Reese's peaces
It's turning into a Animal shelter at Landyachtz and now there's another hound to help me gang up against the Cat. Meet Reese, she's a timid girl with a whole lot of attitude. She hangs out up stairs with the Office staff and makes her presence known by barking every time an unfamiliar face appears. Gerrrr

Custom boards are the BOMB
Thanks to Justus for send in these custom Drop Speed photos. The board looks really nice and if i could ride a skateboard i would want to ride that one. I may even lift a leg and claim it as my own however these humans just don't understand how us K-9s work. Anyway thanks for the photos Justus and don't worry, i have instilled fear into the heart of Cat and pretty much run the show around here now. WOOF WOOF
