DAY 1.
Its
been a long time in the making but here it is! Landyachtz sends a team
down under. This is a first of a kind by any Longboard manufacturer,
history in the making. Landyachtz has really thrown down this time!
Heading towards Brisbane, its sorta fitting that after the train ride, i
had to skate 15 kms to the depot to get the RV. The RV is a Mercedes
and its only 2 years old and they're given it to us!!!
3
trips to the airport and the the crew had made it safe without any
hassle from customs. Dillon, Kyle and Guff got in first and then Striker
2 hrs later cause he missed his flight in Sydney! They didn't miss him.
Stung the big guy $736 for excess baggage.
Head
back to the GC and the boys didn't hold back on the Duty Free hard bar.
Got back to my joint on the beach and had the BarBQ from hell. Meat,
salad, brews and a few of the local lads, Kurt and Lucas from Heelside
dropped in for a good ol chin wag. How can ya forget the goon bag. Its
made a fierce return and is a staple part of a traveling skaters budget.
Set the lads up in cozy beds. Kyle opted for the double seat couch in the RV after not makin it inside for a shower or a feed.
DAY 2.
Wake
up and its pretty spectacular weather straight off the bat for the boys
from Canada. Warming up to a nice 28 early, it was real hard not to get
down the beach for a surf. Got hell shit to do. Business time. Breaky
of champions, Steak, Eggs, Bacon, Toast, Coffee, and Juice. Had to get
the RV sorted for the tour. Boards needed to get set up, wheels and
clothes needed to get put away. 200 shirts for the tour so keep an eye
out for these stylin pieces of memorabilia.
Get
into Brisvegas and pick up new comer to the team JoshE and also camera
guru Jaco. HAhA. This was a funny moment here in the making. Lance,
JoshE's ol boy, was like "look after me boy eh" and Strike of all people
returned by saying " all good mate, I've got him" We've got a little
time to kill before hitting up the first of 6 shops drown the east
coast, Goodtime in Wooloongabba, so we hit up and lurked hard in trees
down a local park.
Goodtime
and the boys are stoked to see wats to come of the tour. This shops off
the hook. Has a great collection, probably the best I've seen of old
surfboards. Walk in the shop and there's a group of around 30 kids all in
school uniform, obviously just belted straight from class to get a
moment with the crew. Was at this moment that i looked around and there
was total STOKE from all punters. Its all been worth it. Just to see the
crew smiling and takin it all in. Posters were getting signed and we
got a special one done up for the shop owner, Gail, who unfortunately
has been in hospital for Breast Cancer. Wishing her well in her
recovery.
The
crew where getting itchy and its time to bounce and hit a local hill.
The crew that come round was pretty rad. The light was low and soft and
the pavement was butter and friendly. Fun for all. Strike got down and
bombed barefoot on his Evo that had been left in OZ since last year,
with local chick ripper Aki. Kyle was reppin the 33 loco. Dillon the
Drop Hammer, JoshE on the Wolfy , i was on the TopSpeed and Navaho
Dinghy so it was a great mix of all styles and the crew that where
there got to sample the new range a little.
Got
some eats in West end and head out to the tranq bush of Mt Nebo and its
surrounding national parks. Parked up the RV, wind out the awning and
have a couple brews. Good times with my team mates and this time, we're
doin it right. Thanks Landyachtz.
