Day 4. Testicle Facility.
Had a pretty shitty sleep last night eh. Wasn't Anything to do with the accommodation, Speedy had hooked it up again. Just the damn sandflies. We're stayin at the beautiful Pakiri Beach not even 10 minutes from the hill. Its such a nice little beach park, right on a river that leads to the ocean. At this time of year the sands built up over the mouth and the river isn't flowing. All good. The beach makes up for it! Cant wait to hit that again later.
Speedy had bailed super early to go get gas in the van so it could run us up the hill all day. Upon his return, punters where eating breaky and waking up. The call had been put out that we could only get shuttled runs in till lunch cause the guy why 'spy's' on the joint will be back? At this stage it was like 9AM already. Crew started running round like headless chooks in the anticipation of squeezing as many runs in before lunchtime!!!
Got to the hill and everything was the same. Somewhat untouched. Paradise. Even the owners dawg came out as if she'd been waiting for us since we left. "Welcome to the Testicle Facility" again was the call from Speedy's mouth as we drove through the gate. Not the same gate as last year, this is the side gate we lifted off it hinges to get through! Adventure plus!
Good thing that the weather was as nice as it coulda got. Chill 21 degrees, perfect! Top of the hill and the view was amazing. Ocean. Islands, and one epic road rollin down the side of the ridge line. As crew warmed into it and got a feel for the pavement, peeps be changing their wheels to get the best feel of the ride down. The pavements weird. Its grips,but slides well, very predictable for drift 'sugar' slides. The road splits at the top, one way offering a lil straight into a right sweeper into a big dropping, closing radius left, the other was a steep tight section into a tight fun little shickane into a wide straight, over a bridge into the big left. Its got the rounded section to hit. Always hit that section! Runs where getting faster and more confident. I had a real tight run down with Matt K, Gabe, and Chad and things where getting lose! so sick to watch!
Its after lunch time, peeps are a little spent and hungry so thought its a good time to go back to the beach have a swim and a feed and recharge for the arvy. Bounce we did. Everyman for himself at meal times! Get in and eat. After we smashed some grub we hit up the beach. Sun was out now and the day was perfect. Blue crystal water, just nice for a refreshing swim.
Most the crew had the hell kip and didn't get into gear until 5 for the arvy session on the hill. Gabe had hit a wall after a major sugar crash so he just slept while the rest of us got rad on the hill. Arvy sessions are so nice at this place. The sun shines against the rolling hills and the colours are mellow and natural. Good to see Cam back up on his feet. Pretty much sk8'd till sun down and head back to the campground for a feed and a shower. A very satisfying day!
