Final Report : Ntence Decentz Tour 2013

DAY 14.  Mt Ruapehu

Double bed benefits and toasty conditions from the wood fire meant a good night sleep. Bounced outta bed stoked and a little sore from mondo runs yesterday. I clocked up 72 kms of DH yesterday! Perfect. Same deal today, start with a few poach runs with Kam, Bondy and Jordan. The air is fresh, the sun is warm, the birds and the bugs are out. Seems like paradise. Is it?
Found out some info on the local chopper operator and ill try tee up a run for the crew with camera's later in the day before he knocks off. Conditions are very similar to yesterday. Steady SE breeze blown across the hill. Some corners head wind, some from the tail. Very user friendly sk8in. Kam and I got down on some film runs. Matt k got a traveling motorbike rider to run down with Gabe on the back filming. That's one dude I never woulda thought to get on the back of a bike of a stranger. Yeah Gabe. Getting 'er done!

Lunch and the talks turned from the road to the chairlift. Speedy hooked up a free run up the mountain for us all. The view from the top station was epic. U could see most the road as it twisted down the volcano. Took a couple beers for the journey. Again, the name of the game was exploration. Bondy and myself bailed the group and missioned another few hundred meters up the face to snow, or as close to snow at this time of year as we were gonna get. Api, Jordan and Kam soon followed. We had the higher ground so started to hock snow balls. It turned into an all out assault for a short time. Api was making good ground regardless. Full blown warrior status. Had a little wash in one of the run off streams and freshened up a treat. Back down the mountain to session the hill and have a swim back at the jump spot.
We were a lil earlier on yesterdays swim time and its pay'd off. The suns still shinning on the drop zone. The water is still fresh but its exactly wat these tired legs need! A few jumps and a lurk in the sun and the group was nearly ready to bounce. Back to the hill to finish of the vid Gabe and Jaco have been filming. Be sure to keep an eye out for this one. There's been some great sk8in thrown down the last two weeks and this is just the icing on the cake.
Its been an absolutely  amazing experience to be on the mountain. The general public were all stoked, the mountain staff accepted us and treated us as equals, the weather has been bloody beautiful, the accommodation is mecca, the geography offers so many interesting characteristics and the road is pretty close to perfect. I personally am totally satisfied. I'm sure the rest of the group feel the same from the buzz here at base camp. Its dinner, drinks, tattoo's and beer pong now. Done and dusted.

Day 15. Mt Ruapehu to Auckland. Finish of tour.

We all hustled pretty hard this morning. Getting the lodge all clean like we found it wasn't gonna be super hard but there where 11 tired sk8er's on the job. Pretty impressed at the departure time. Gave us a few more runs down this epic piece of road.
Typical morning conditions up here on the moon. Cold, fresh breeze and clouds getting blown across the peak, blockin the sun. I think everyone was on the same page today. We've had a safe trip and no injuries to date so there was no need for any hero's. We all just floated down the hill in a mellow pack, taking the road and using its entirety where we could. Again, the tourists here for hiking or sightseeing are stoked to see the likes of us rollin, what would look like to them as a pretty gnarly road, with massive smiles and confidence! Really paints a great picture of wat our sports about eh. Being in control, having fun and doing something constructive with our lives! Total STOKE!
Thank u Mt Ruapehu for the experience.

Everyone's tired and full to the tit with insane amounts of stoke oozing with every word spoken. U just have to look around at the faces of the boys and the expressions and emotions say it all! This tour has been epic. For all those involved, on behalf of the group, say a massive thank you. To New Zealand, with its perfect weather, sexy roads and comfortable hospitality, again, thank you. Speedy. You hooked up a rad tour with a great bunch of blokes. Thank you. The crew. You are all legit dudes, all great blokes and its been an epic journey with the lot of ya. Thank you! And finally to the family at Landyachtz. I wouldn't have been able to be part of such a positive movement if it weren't for you guys. Thank you!
Till next year, chur kuzzis.
