Field Report : Ntence Decentz Tour 2013

DAY 5. Moa Testicle Facility!

Frothin! ready to hit the facility again and it can't come soon enough! Ive been doing  RND on some new thane and I'm eager to get out and make the comparisons on yesterdays thane sessions!  Gabe and Chad had a vid to shoot today and with the ol 'spy' apparently being out and about from lunch, they too were keen to get a start.

Met by the local dawgs, we head through the gate! Similar conditions from yesterday except the wind be blowin down the hill stronger today. With the first runs under the belts peeps started doin wat they do. The boys hit the corners with they're vid and the rest of us just  hit runs. With countless runs under the belt Speedy called it and we bounced to get lunch and gas.

A little trip into Matakana for supplies gave us time to discuss what we were gonna do through the day. Bondy had heard off a few guys in his local sk8 shop of a new bowl out at Mangawhai. A little check on the good 'ol g-maps and its only an hour away. full of grub and stoked to sk8 the bowl we set out for an arvy (afternoon) of tasty bowl treats.

Mungawhai bowl! Been there for about 18 months and it still looks new as the day it was finished. Perfection! Gold. The small bowl was a 3 stage bowl with stairs in the shallow end. It was 4,5 and 6 ft to vert  and the best pool coping! the big bowl was massive. At 7 in the shallow with a waterfall to the deep at 11 ft all vert with pool coping, its right up Matt k's alley. Shoes off and he's in. Shreddin around the tiles. Its such a nice noise. The tiles are all long rectangular so wen ya get the 99a thane rollin across its feels and sounds like ya gettin er done right!  Bondy , Api, Matt k and myself are all getting in the deep end, flowin hard. On leaving, i went to say thanks to the crew there building the park and a mate from back on the GC call's out to me. Small world man. Eethy rips big ramps and it's his homies behind this little gold mine. Yeah boys!

Back to the facility and its just a few of the crew. Others be spent after some serious action the last 5 days. Api was back at it, destroyin thane. I've never seen anyone go through wheels like the 'mean' man from kuzzi bro land. Yeah bra! He bails us tomorrow back in Auckland on our way through to the Corromandel Peninsular and 'Pukpkin Pit', 'Underground Chicken' and various other delights! Api has an operation to prepare for. Good luck man!
With the arvy done it was a fitting 'hoo roo' to the Testicle Facility. Err body got down safe. A lil rash but generally pretty clean. All STOKE. thanks, YEWWWW!

DAY 6.  South to Auckland then off to Coromandel Peninsular.

Its gonna be a long day of drivin. Up early and back to Auckland to get Api there for his flight home. Again, how can u really complain about spending time in a van trekking across this beautiful part of the world. Its all farmland, forest and winding roads.

Getting into Auckland we stopped at Speedy's house to upload videos and all that inter webs sorta stuff. Its crazy how much we all depend on technology for uploads and information? Bailed from speedy's and hit up a local little bowl he had in the neibourhood. It was fun but he had an ace up his sleeve,. There was a bigger, better bowl around half hour away.  Got to the spot and this park was off the hook. A clover bowl and a nice big crail in the other bowl. Matt k got busy as to did bondy. Most the others went and chased grub! I think at this stage the boys just wanna bomb hills!!
Dropped Api at the Airport and the silly fukker forgot his wallet. He's been leaving his wallet on seats in the bus the whole week? Bra, Ur gonna pay. Shot with the airsoft, a full round! Yeah bra, good luck with the operation.

So we finally arrive at Whangamata. Its such a rad little surf town. The culture here is all about the sea. Fish and chips and surfboard shops fill the sidewalks. Id love to get a wave on the tour. After trekking round town for a little while we found the backpackers. Rad posse, right up near the beach. I bounced and went for a swim to freshen up and get the daily hit of saltwater.

With the rooms sorted we head off to 'Underground Chicken'. Forgot how demanding this one was. It wasn't that fast but the constant change from right to left with mondo tucks in between to hold ya speed made for some uber jelly legs early in. i guess it was the first  hill for the day. With stoke at a massive high, we bounced and head for home.
Tomorrow we’re off to 'Pumkin Pit'. This one is sik, can't wait. Maybe at some stage of the arvy, me and Bondy can hire a few boards. There is a hell lil swell!
